The City of Corning offers youth hockey to boys and girls age 4 – 14 years old. All of our hockey divisions will have a focus on skating, skill development and FUN! We use trained coaches and skating instructors to work with the children. The purpose of our program is to introduce youngsters to the thrilling sport of ice hockey! We teach skating, game fundamentals, and hockey skills such as stick handling, passing, and shooting. All age groups are no-check!
Registration Information:
Registration is on a first come first serve basis until our program is full. To register for one of our age divisions please visit www.cityofcorningny.gov and select the Recreation Department form the “Departments” tab and click on the “Click Here for Program and Facility Information”. You will need to establish a household account and add youth members to register for specific programs.
Age Division Information
5 U: This is a learn-to-skate program, with a hockey theme that is open to youth ages 4 and 5 years old. This program will meet for an hour on Tuesday’s from 5:00 – 6:00 pm on half of the ice rink. We will not be utilizing hockey sticks until February of 2026. The equipment required includes a helmet with a face mask, hockey shin guards & elbow pads. Kids must be 4 years old by the start of the season which will be Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Fee is $85.00 per child (including Jersey).
Holiday exclusion dates will include December 23 & 30
Season End Date: March 3
7 U: This program is for youth ages 6 – 7 years old. This program will meet for an hour on Tuesday’s from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm on half of the ice rink. Hockey sticks will not be utilized until after the Christmas New Years Holiday. The equipment required includes a helmet with a face mask, hockey shin guards, gloves & elbow pads. Kids must be 6 years by the start of the season which will be Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Fee is $85.00 per child (including Jersey).
Holiday exclusion dates will include December 23 & 30
Season End Date: March 3
9 U: This program is for youth ages 8 and 9 years old. This program will meet twice a week, once for 45 minutes on Monday’s from 5:45 – 6:45 pm and again for an hour on Wednesday’s from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. Children will ultimately be divided into teams (number pending registration numbers) for games. The equipment required includes a helmet with a face mask, elbow pads, hockey shin guards, and hockey gloves. Kids must be 8 years old by the start of the season on Monday, December 1, 2025. Fee is $120 for the season (including Jersey).
*New this year we will be hosting a Stick Practice on Sunday evenings beginning Sunday, December 6, 2025, at no additional charge from 6:30 – 8:00 pm for the 9 U, 11 U and 14 U hockey programs. This Stick Practice session is for program participants and their parents or guardians 18 years of age or older.
Holiday exclusion dates will include December 22 29
Season End Date: March 2
11 U: This program is for youth ages 10 and 11 years old. This program will meet twice a week, once for an hour on Thursdays from 5:15 – 6:15 pm and again for an hour and 15 minutes on Saturday’s from 8:00 – 9:15 am. Children will ultimately be divided into teams (number pending registration numbers) for games. Full Hockey equipment required for this program. Kids must be 10 years old by the start of the season on Saturday, November 29, 2025. The 11 U and 14 U programs will be skating together from time to time throughout the season. In instances such as this, the meting times will take place between 5:15 – 7:30 pm on Thursdays and 8:00 – 10:15 am on Saturdays. Fee is $160 for the season (including Jersey).
